juz a random thought.

the last time i went to the hairdresser, this ang mo guy came in to cut his hair. i think hex a regular customer. so this girl from the salon got him to sit down a few seats away from mine n started wif his hair. i juz couldnt help noticing their conversation. not that it was very interesting.. itx juz the way they toked to each other. imagine an ang mo man wif perfect english toking to an ah lian-lyk girl wif super broken english plus singlish.. -_-" itx soundx super hilarious n half the time he was trying so hard to understand her.. he even tried adding a bit of lah n leh inside... haha! for instance.. (couldnt exactly hear everything they said) i heard something bout a mermaid they were toking bout. they toked bout it for some time n even sounded lyk they were enjoying the conversation.. until i heard the girl say 'o u mean not the girl wif the tail one ah?' HAHAHA seriously... he was toking bout some ship overseas... THE WHOLE VERY LONG TIME..

anyway, i suddenly thought bout this incident because i was listening to 933 n this student wrote in bout how her whole class is irritated bout this english teacher of theirs.. apparently she keeps insisting their english was bad n wanted them to speak PROPER english n not SINGAPORE english.. n the girl commented that 'we are singaporean wat, of coz speak singapore english larh' den the dj commented that sometimes it is good to learn proper english so that when we communicate wif foreigners they wouldnt haf a hard time understanding us.. I SO AGREE..

maybe because im going to aussie soon thats y this issue kinda trigger my thoughts.. imagine how embarrassing it would be to haf to think for a while b4 speaking because u are not used to speaking 'proper' english.. imagine how embarrassing when after u said something ur frens look confused n asked u to repeat urself coz they couldnt understand wat u were trying to say.. SO KIDS! sometimes we shld learn to take the english language seriously.. juz because we are singaporeans doesnt mean we cant speak proper english yah? chaox!
